Job Summary:
The Project and Communications Officer will play a vital role in supporting the Ankawa Humanitarian Committee (AHC) in its mission. This position will be responsible for coordinating project activities, providing consistent and high-quality service, and contributing to the proper stewardship of project resources to help ensure operational effectiveness in support of high-quality programming and ensure effective communication of project status of AHC, successes, and key messaging to internal and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the implementation of project activities.
Contribute to the development and fulfillment of Project Monitoring and Evaluation Plans.
Draft project reports (including but not limited to regular progress and comprehensive quarter and annual reports).
Visit regularly and on-demand basis beneficiaries’ businesses who received support for implementation to monitor the project progress and clarify the related issues on the ground.
Follow the latest international and national development in climate change and circular economy-related fields.
Maintain regular contact with beneficiaries to ensure relevance and quality of project’ outputs.
Develop and prepare materials for awareness sessions, and social media campaigns that comply with the project goal and are in-line with the national and international climate action updates.
Contribute in development of proposal writing and logframe design for new projects.
Coordinate training sessions, awareness sessions, and other activities or events.
Create an environmental calendar and follow regional and international climate and environmental events.
Facilitate communication with all members of the project team, relevant staff in other departments/teams and external stakeholders as relevant. Send/receive and distribute all incoming and outgoing mail/faxes/letters/documents
Perform any additional required activities to ensure an efficient project outcome.
Travel independently between different areas in the country, if needed.
Communication responsibilities:
Take the lead on implementing communication activities and provide deliverables as clearly instructed in the project proposal, detailed implementation plan, and as requested by AHC or its donor(s).
In coordination with Projects’ main focal points, and with other responsible staff, develop and implement a strategic communications plan for the required deliverables so that the projects’ successes and donors are appropriately well-recognized.
Produce communications materials (in English and Arabic) that effectively communicate about the project to internal and external audiences, including donors, media, local communities, and other constituencies. Collaborate with main focal points to prepare communication pieces.
In charge of creating and developing proper content for the organization to be published on the official websites and social media.
Track local and international media sources to collect press clippings related to the project.
Ensure proper branding and marking of project sites and materials, in accordance with the Branding Strategy and Marking Plan approved by the donor.
Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
Ensure receiving and documenting written consent from all the interviewed individuals (staff, beneficiaries, partners, community, or others) when developing communication products and/or taking photos and videos for the project following the donor requirements.
Archive and document project-related products, files, photos, videos, and other materials (in both hard and soft copies, as applicable), and ensure their availability when needed.
The Employee must adhere to the action points mentioned in the Strategic Plan; AHC staff should manage their responsibilities as identified/guided by the document of the strategic plan.
Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Communication and Media, Development Studies, or another related field. A professional Diploma/Certificate or courses in Media/Content Creator is a plus.
Experience in agriculture, environment, climate change, or related field is an asset.
Experience working in an office environment in a similar role. Experience with NGO is a plus.
Experience in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio) and information management systems.
At least 2-3 years of related professional experience.
